The candidate works on a concrete engineering project in the Magnet Support Structures team, performing structural and thermo-mechanical analyses of the systems that support the superconducting coils under high electromagnetic and cryogenic loads. The position provides the opportunity to closely collaborate with experienced engineers, learn the process from concept to hardware, and contribute to design, simulations (FEA), prototypes, and design recommendations. The offer is aimed at students enrolled in Bachelor/Master programs (mechanical, aerospace, physics, robotics/mechatronics, or related fields) and requires remaining enrolled for the duration of the contract. Flexible duration (3–12 months full-time or part-time possible), flexible start between January and March 2027. Experience in CAD, FEA, cryogenic materials, and Python is a plus.

Main responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, analysis, or testing of Alpha systems related to physics and structures
  • Conduct engineering studies (finite element simulations, prototyping, testing)
  • Document results and present technical recommendations
  • Work closely with senior engineers and technical mentor

Profile sought

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master in mechanical engineering, aerospace, physics, robotics/mechatronics, or similar
  • Skills in mechanical design and analysis; proficiency in CAD (3DExperience/CATIA/ANSYS preferred)
