About LUCA

LUCA School of Arts is a Flemish higher arts school with several campuses in Belgium (Brussels, Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp). LUCA offers bachelor's and master's programs in visual arts, audiovisual, photography, product design, scenography, and film — pathways tailored for international students with English-taught options for certain master's programs and Erasmus collaborations. Studying arts at LUCA provides access to a practice-oriented pedagogy, experimentation, and research in arts, as well as professional networks in Belgium and abroad. The school welcomes students from artistic backgrounds and offers workshops, studios, and local institutional partnerships (museums, production studios). The programs are suitable for international students wishing to study arts in Belgium, with admission procedures and specific information available on the international pages and each program.

Admissions

LUCA School of Arts admits international students based on a diploma that grants access to higher education in the home country (in accordance with the Lisbon Convention); for diplomas outside the Convention, admission is possible if the diploma grants access to equivalent education. An administrative verification of diplomas is conducted by the Admissions office. ([luca-arts.be](https://www.luca-arts.be/en/applying-bachelor-degree-student?utm_source=openai)) Most academic bachelor's programs (including Visual Arts and Audiovisual Arts) require, in addition to academic admission, passing an Artistic Aptitude Test (portfolio/skills assessment). For master's programs, a "Master Assessment" (artistic portfolio/motivation and online/in-person interview) is organized according to the program. ([luca-arts.be](https://www.luca-arts.be/en/applying-bachelor-degree-student?utm_source=openai)) Language: bachelor's programs are primarily taught in Dutch (minimum required level: B2); several master's programs (including some specializations in Visual Arts and Audiovisual Arts) are offered in English. LUCA accepts proof of language proficiency in accordance with the guidelines on the admission page (e.g., Staatsexamen NT2, CVO certificates, etc. for Dutch); for master's programs in English, proof of English (see specific master's requirements) is required. ([luca-arts.be](https://www.luca-arts.be/en/applying-bachelor-degree-student?utm_source=openai)) Procedure: application via LUCA's online application platform (Applicant); for certain master's or EMJMD (Erasmus Mundus) programs, applications are made through the consortium's website (e.g., DocNomadsPlus). Usual documents: diploma and transcripts, official translations if necessary, portfolio, motivation letter, CV, ID/photo; fees and payment methods vary depending on the type of program. ([luca-arts.be](https://www.luca-arts.be/sites/default/files/2026-02/factsheet_luca_school_of_arts_belgium_2526.pdf)) Fees and visa: tuition fees depend on nationality (EEA vs non-EEA) and the program; LUCA publishes fee schedules (e.g., tables for 2025–26 and 2026–27) and indicates that a surcharge for non-EEA applies for new enrollments starting from 2026–2027. Non-EEA students must also follow the visa/residence permit procedures described by LUCA after acceptance. ([luca-arts.be](https://www.luca-arts.be/en/oa-tuition-fees?utm_source=openai))

Application deadline: March 1, 2027.
