Test Engineer - First Job - Aachen (Aachen District)

Job description

Astera Labs is looking for a Test Engineer to join its assembly and testing site in Aachen. The position involves validating that each device meets performance and reliability standards before delivery, closely collaborating with design and production teams. Responsibilities include executing and supervising test programs on automated and semi-automated benches, troubleshooting hardware/software to isolate the causes of defects, analyzing test data to improve yield, supporting NPI for the qualification of new products, maintaining/calibrating test systems, and keeping documentation compliant with industry standards. The role is particularly suitable for recent graduates in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering with up to 2 years of experience (internships or university projects appreciated), scripting skills (Python, C/C++, LabVIEW), familiarity with oscilloscopes and multimeters, and an interest in production testing and yield improvement.

Main responsibilities

• Execute and monitor test programs on automated and semi-automated equipment
• Diagnose failures to distinguish product defects from equipment malfunctions
• Analyze test data to identify trends and improve yield
• Support NPI: develop and validate test plans and hardware interfaces

Profile sought

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or related field
• 0–2 years of experience in electronic testing or manufacturing (internships/university appreciated)
• Scripting/test automation skills (Python, C/C++ or LabVIEW)
• Knowledge of laboratory instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter) and understanding of digital logic
